Ferrier Wire’s Mesh Slitting Service
Ferrier Wire and Design Metals offers a range of services used to achieve the desired architectural or industrial product of choice for your unique application. Mesh slitting is one such service that we have to offer, and involves slitting mesh from standard widths down to narrow coils. We achieve these smaller widths using our gang slitter machine.
Gang Slitter Capabilities
A gang slitter is a machine that features a number of pairs of rotary cutters that are spaced out and fixed on two parallel shafts. Gang slitters are used for slitting metal material into smaller strips, and can also be used to trim down the edges of metal sheets. The rotary cutters are incredibly durable, and are designed and manufactured to ensure optimal cutting results every time.
Ferrier Wire’s gang glitter machine features 12 pairs of knives that can slit through material. We can take up to 48 inch wide rolls (full rolls only, typically 100 feet long) and are capable of slitting them down to coils as narrow as 3 inches wide.
The following is a list of products that we offer that can be slit down:
-
All of our re-galvanized hardware cloth items
-
All of our insect screen products (including aluminum, bright aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, and stainless steel)
-
Fine (8 mesh and finer) aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, galvanized, mild steel, and stainless steel mesh
Typical Applications
Typical applications of wire mesh slit products include for use in soffit ventilation, animal and/or rodent control (i.e. around the bottom of a deck, porch, patio, etc.), and any use where long narrow strips of mesh are of convenience.
